The Clarence Sports Facilities Community Needs Survey has now closed.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to respond.

We will now review the survey results and incorporate them into the next stage of our development of the Sports Facilities Strategic Plan. There will be a further opportunity to provide feedback early in 2024 when we release a draft Sports Facilities Strategic Plan for community consultation.

Clarence Sports Facilities - Community needs survey


Clarence City Council is developing the Clarence Sports Facilities Strategic Plan and invites feedback from the community via our survey. We want to hear from you about participation in organised sports and as well as your needs and ideas for future investment in our facilities. This feedback will be used to inform the development of a long-term visionary plan.

The Sports Facilities Strategic Plan will provide an overarching sports facility planning framework for the City of Clarence. The 20-year Strategic Plan will:

  • Identify the current and future needs for certain (primary) sporting facilities in the City of Clarence.
  • Guide sports facility planning and development for the City of Clarence, including future capital works funding, asset management and financial planning related to sporting facilities will be based.

The Strategic Plan will focus on the following major participation sports:

  • Australian Rules football (AFL)
  • Cricket
  • Football (Soccer)
  • Basketball
  • Netball

The plan will also examine other sports within Clarence whose current and future facilities impact those planned or are required for the above sports, including:

  • Tennis
  • Lawn Bowls
  • Croquet
  • Gymnastics
  • Little Athletics
  • Touch football
  • and more...

Council has engaged Otium Planning Group (Sport and Leisure Planning Consultancy) to prepare the Plan.

Council is conducting extensive consultation with a wide range of stakeholders, including the sporting clubs and associations that participate in organised sports in Clarence and state sporting bodies, but we also want hear directly from the wider community about your needs and ideas for future investment in our facilities.

The first stage of our community engagement process on the Sports Facilities Strategic Plan closed on 6 November 2023.

We are aiming to release a draft Sports Facilities Strategic Plan for community comment and feedback in early 2024. Project updates and further consultation opportunities will be posted on this page.
