About us

Your Say Clarence is City of Clarence's community engagement platform where you can share your opinion and thoughts about what’s happening in our community.

Here you can contribute ideas, provide feedback and see what others are saying about changes in your neighbourhood and across the city.

Community engagement in Clarence

At City of Clarence, we are committed to genuinely involving you in the decisions we make about our places, services and future. One of the main ways we do this is through community engagement.

Community engagement means inviting people who live, work, study and spend time in Clarence to be part of our planning and decision-making. By hearing your needs, aspirations, concerns and ideas, we can better plan and deliver services, facilities and projects that work in real life.

Good engagement also helps build respectful relationships, strengthen connections between different parts of our community, and grow trust over time.

Our Community Engagement Policy

Our Community Engagement Policy sets out our principles, values and commitment to working with the community. It also explains different ways we engage with our community and how your input will be considered.

The different ways we engage

We use different levels of engagement depending on what is being decided and how much scope there is to influence the outcome. These levels are based on the Engagement Institute (formerly IAP2 Australasia) spectrum.

  • Level 1: Inform

To provide the public with balanced and objective information to assist them in understanding the problem, alternatives, opportunities and/or solutions.

  • Level 2: Consult

To obtain public feedback on analysis, alternatives and/or decisions.

  • Level 3: Involve

To work directly with the public throughout the process to ensure that public concerns and aspirations are consistently understood and considered.

  • Level 4: Collaborate

To partner with the public in each aspect of the decision including the development of alternatives and the identification of the preferred solution.

  • Level 5: Empower

To place final decision making in the hands of the public.

On Your Say Clarence, each project will clearly say what parts of the project can and can't be influenced. This helps you understand how your input will be used and how much it can shape the final outcome.

Don't miss the chance to have your say!
