Project update
Thank you to everyone who voted to help us choose the new play unit design for Opossum Bay Park. We received 98 votes overall and the winner (with 94 votes) is ‘Option A’.

We have read through all the comments and ideas you shared in the survey and we are now exploring if any small tweaks can be made to accommodate community feedback and ideas for additional play features.

Some ideas the community shared were outside the scope of this project (such as park fencing and shade shelters) but we will use this information to guide any future works in this area.

A copy of the Consultation Summary Report is available here.

Background

The current combination play unit has reached the end of its life and it's time for a fresh new one. You might’ve noticed we've already added some great new features to the park, like a new toilet block, picnic area, swing set, seesaw rocker, and spinning carousel.

The existing playground equipment has been a local favourite for years, with fun features like a slide, climbing platforms, tunnels, and interactive play panels. We plan to keep all the best bits—like the slide, climbing fun, and spaces for younger kids to play together—while giving it a modern upgrade.

The new unit will be similar in size and perfect for all ages.

In May-June 2025 we ran survey asking the community to vote on their preferred option from two new combination unit designs. A summary of the survery outcomes is available here.
