Updates

Project update - 10 September 2025

Thank you to everyone who shared feedback on Opossum Bay Park. We heard that many of you missed the old monkey bars and wanted more play options for older kids. In response, we have updated Preferred Option A to include a new set of monkey bars, while keeping the inclusive mix of play intact.

Project update - 2 July 2025
Thank you to everyone who voted to help us choose the new play unit design for Opossum Bay Park. We received 98 votes overall and the winner (with 94 votes) is ‘Option A’.

We have read through all the comments and ideas you shared in the survey and we are now exploring if any small tweaks can be made to accommodate community feedback and ideas for additional play features.

Some ideas the community shared were outside the scope of this project (such as park fencing and shade shelters) but we will use this information to guide any future works in this area.

A copy of the Consultation Summary Report is available here.

If you would like to discuss this project, please get in touch with one of the project officers in the ‘Contact us’ panel.

New Playground Equipment for Opossum Bay Park!

We’re updating the playground at Opossum Bay Park—and we want your input!

The current combination play unit has reached the end of its life and it's time for a fresh new one. You might’ve noticed we've already added some great new features to the park, like a new toilet block, picnic area, swing set, seesaw rocker, and spinning carousel.

Now, we’re ready to replace the main play unit—and we’d love for you to help choose the design.

The existing playground equipment has been a local favourite for years, with fun features like a slide, climbing platforms, tunnels, and interactive play panels. We plan to keep all the best bits—like the slide, climbing fun, and spaces for younger kids to play together—while giving it a modern upgrade.

The new unit will be similar in size and perfect for all ages.

With the project budget available, we've narrowed it down to two options and we'd like your help to select which one. More detail on the option can be found in the 'Opossum Bay Playground Renewal' PDF in the Document Library.

Tell us your preferences and help shape the next chapter of play at Opossum Bay Park.

From May-June 2025, we ran survey asking the community to vote on their preferred option from two new combination unit designs. A summary of the survey outcomes is available here.
