A further update to my previous story.

I hope it is ok to submit two surveys and two stories. Since I submitted my first survey, Natone Hill was added to the declared on-lead only area in an edit to the published draft policy, so I needed to amend my response. This is not a good idea. Having extensive area to exercise dogs off-lead ensures compliance with on-lead requirements elsewhere, and helps keep dogs tired and quiet the rest of the day. Natone Hill is spacious and away from crowds so there is little chance of disturbing other people. There is very little wildlife up there either, at least that I can see.

re Anzac Park, the reason cited for making it on lead only is that there is to be ongoing development of the memorial area. This is simply not true. My understanding is the RSL has no funds for further development, and the Anzac Park consultation that was underway at one stage has been shelved because of no coherent views emerging. There are no firms plans for any further development and no funding set aside by Council for such development. There has certainly been no public consultation about developing the memorial precinct of this community owned land. So why cite that as a reason for making the Park on-lead only. It is a misleading and invalid reason for an ill thought out policy change.

Contributions to this consultation are now closed for evaluation and review.
