How will this be communicated back to the community?

  • Consultation report to be presented back to the ‘One Community Together’ group and local Rotary group early in 2023 as well as published on Your Say by 21 December 2022. This will be also publicised on Council Website and Facebook pages, along with a story in the Eastern Shore Sun.

What next for the project?

  • The Draft Master Plan will be presented to council for formal endorsement in early 2023, inclusive of an initial implementation plan.
  • First priorities in the implementation plan will be considered in 2023-24 budget planning.
  • Ongoing conversations with the community as elements start being implemented.

Project overview

Council is undertaking broad community consultation for the development of the Clarence Plains Master Plan.

The Clarence Plains Master Plan will help guide future growth and development in the area and create a unified plan for the community’s future.

We are seeking community and key stakeholder feedback on what the future of Clarence Plains should look like and how council should plan for it.

Background

Clarence Plains has been identified as one of the fastest growing areas in Southern Tasmania.

Clarence City Council is planning for the growth of this region through the creation of a Clarence Plains Master Plan which will provide a dynamic long-term framework to guide future growth and development.

In order to plan for the future growth of this region Clarence City Council has engaged MODE and C Change Sustainable Solutions (C Change) to develop the Clarence Plains Master Plan.

The Clarence Plains Master Plan will build on the 2014 Master Plan for Rokeby and Clarendon Vale, commissioned by Mission Australia, and encompass the larger study area of Clarendon Vale, Glebe Hill, Rokeby and Oakdowns.

Some of the key objectives of The Clarence Plains Master Plan project include strategies for community development, identifying opportunities for improving and expanding housing stock, strategic directions for public open space and connectivity, infrastructure, and partnership opportunities.

Community consultation with key stakeholders including community groups, State Government bodies, education providers and Landcare groups has been undertaken during the first stage of consultation. This stage also included broader community engagement through council’s Your Say page.

Second stage of consultation asked for feedback from the community and stakeholders on the Draft Master Plan and included opportunities for face-to-face feedback as well as a further survey through Your Say.

  • Making our house and community feel like home

by mysay74, over 2 years ago

We bought our house from Housing Tasmania as low income first home buyers through the 'STREETS AHEAD' program a little over 21 years ago. We are slowly working on our home, still on low incomes, to make it feel more homely. And I joined the One Community Together collective about 6-7 years ago, so I could do my part to help make our community feel more homely.

I love the hills, the rural feel, the bushland surrounding us, the birds, the fact we are so close to some of Tasmania's lovely beaches, rivulets and rivers. I love nature, and I... Continue reading

  • Rokeby Apricot Orchards

by Robert, over 2 years ago
My grandparents started a family around 100 years ago in Beach Street, Bellerive. They had 13 children and most grew up on the eastern shore and naturally there is still a strong presence in the area. I grew up in a federation house in Mildura Street which still stands. I have lived in Rokeby for the past 27 years and Clarendon Vale for 16 years prior to that.

One of my uncles operated a cartage contracting business which was in Percy Street, Bellerive. My father and other uncles would drive trucks for the uncle on weekends delivering roadmaking material to... Continue reading
