Clarence Mountain Bike Park and Meehan Range User Survey

Thank you for getting involved and helping us understand how the Clarence Mountain Bike Park and wider mountain bike trail network in the Meehan Range are used.

The 10 minute survey was open from 10 October until 4 December 2023 and we had a high level of interest from users of the bike park and trails with 472 surveys telling us what you think! The collated survey responses can be found here or watch a short summary video here. We appreciate all the feedback and opinions that were shared and can now more confidently plan for the future.

Meehan Range MTB survey result summary:

  • The vast majority of riders are aged 30-49 years but all ages are represented from toddlers to riders in their 70s.
  • The majority of users live locally within Greater Hobart (50% within Clarence) and visit once a week or more.
  • Favourite tracks are Flow Monster, K’s Choice, Clarence Downhill, Cliffhanger and Skills Park.
  • Advanced riders want more technical and challenging tracks; beginner riders and young families want easier, family-friendly tracks.
  • Riders who use the backcountry trails like the natural, wilderness feel and more technical old school cross-country trails.

Some of the improvements riders tell us they want:

  • Eliminate bi-directional trails for safety and amenity – in particular K’s Choice.
  • More gravity descents from the Skyline.
  • Map boards and improved signage.
  • Improved infrastructure at trail hubs.

These summary results as well as the detailed feedback from the survey will be used to draft a Strategic Plan for future developments at the Clarence MTB Park and Meehan Range.

PLEASE NOTE: The below map shows both the Clarence Mountain Bike Park (highlighted in Green) and the broader Meehan Range where the back country mountain bike trails are located. The survey has questions that relate to both areas.
