Draft Active Lifestyle Strategy

Consultation has concluded

Project Overview

We are undertaking community consultation on the draft Active Lifestyle Strategy.

Our active lifestyle vision is that Clarence becomes a destination of choice, providing opportunities for a healthy and active lifestyle, accessible to all in our community, through enhancing amenity and access to our natural environment, together with providing diverse parks, tracks, trails and sport, fitness and leisure facilities.

The aim of this consultation is to seek community feedback and ideas on the draft strategy. This feedback will then be used to refine the draft before being presented to council for endorsement.

Once the final strategy is adopted by council, implementation plans will be developed that outline how and when each objective will be delivered.

These short-term action plans will provide for a major review of progress every three years, and an annual minor review to inform budget and annual plan discussions and decision-making.

Background

In 2021 council reviewed its 10-year Strategic Plan. As part of the review, council committed to reviewing several key strategies and plans, including a range of community plans, planning frameworks and action plans to support the planning, development, and implementation of our activities and services.

The Active Lifestyle Strategy is one of these key strategies and will provide a long-term framework for future planning, funding, management and prioritisation of projects.

The draft Active Lifestyle Strategy was approved by council for public consultation on 28 February 2022.
